Are you Ready for a Fiesta? You Are Invited to Celebrate with Us Our Latino Culture!

Attendants will have the opportunity to learn about Hispanic traditions, enjoy music and poetry, try Latin-American food, and celebrate the town’s rich cultural diversity.

In Collaboration with the Hammonton Health Coalition, Downtown Hammonton is hosting this Thursday, September 17th, from 5 to 8 p.m. “Fiesta Hammonton,” a Festival to celebrate the Latino culture. This festival will mark the beginning of the Hispanic Heritage Month, a time when we recognize the contributions Hispanic Americans have made to American society and culture, and honor Latin American countries who celebrate their independence.

Celebrating our Hispanic heritage is important to us. We are eager to share the abundance of our cultures, including our stories, cuisine, poetry, music, traditions, and, most importantly, our accomplishments as residents of a beautiful and diverse community,” Said Corina Mendoza, a Hammonton Health Coalition Connector.

This is the first-time Hammonton celebrates the Hispanic Heritage Month with an event of this magnitude. To promote social distance during the festival, each exhibition will be in a different shop window all around Downton Hammonton. Participants will be encouraged to use masks during the event.

Hammonton is a town with great cultural wealth. This will be an opportunity to learn about the historical inheritance of everyday Hispanics who give themselves to this community and contribute to making it great, Said Ivette Guillermo-McGahee, leader of the Hammonton Health Coalition.

Hammonton Fiesta is a fantastic event for people who would like to learn more about Latino traditions, culture, arts, music, and food. Exhibitions include traditional wardrobes from Hispanic Countries, Latin American flags, authentic piñatas display, and Frida Kahlo crafts for kids. Latino performers donated their time to entertain people during this gathering. Spanish Singer Melanie Velez, and Mariachi singer Rosita, among others, will delight the audience with their songs. Honduran Poet Andrea Flores and Peruvian Poet Jim Paul Bacon will recite poems in Spanish.

I am proud to see the Mexican flag displayed in Downtown Hammonton as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. We are creating history for new generations by building a path for many opportunities for inclusion in our community,” Said Corina Mendoza, a Hammonton Health Coalition Connector.

This event is funded by Visit New Jersey, Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
