About the event

Please join the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Coalition of South Jersey for our, “Deaf Awareness celebration” as we celebrate the complexities and accomplishments of the Deaf Community.

We will be  sharing our stories; passions,  hardships, and joys, to find common ground and to help us understand better and our place in the world as Deaf, Hard of Gearing, CODA's and SODA's

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Coalition of South Jersey and this initiative are funded in part by an Inclusive Healthy Communities Grant from the Division of Disability Services, NJ Department of Human Services . The New Jersey Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development is also sponsoring this event.

All community members are invited!

Here are some words from one of our guest speakers:

Hello! My name is Jody Bingham. I am here to share the story of our lives as a Deaf family. I also will expand more on the lifestyle as third generation Deaf family. I grew up in New Jersey. I attended Model Secondary School for the Deaf and Gallaudet University in Washington DC. After graduating, I returned to New Jersey and obtained a Masters degree from Rutgers University. I have been teaching ASL courses for 8 years now, from infant to adults. I am currently ASL mentor under LTFP program since April 2021.
